Saline County Fair Books - NOW AVAILABLE

Saline County Fair books are available for pick up at the Saline County Extension Office in Wilber. In Crete books are available at The Crete News, City Bank, Pinnacle Banks, Jay's Oil and Crete Lumber and Farm Supply. Books are also available online at go.unl.edu/2024salinecountyfairbook.

Brenda Cerveny retires after 36 years with W-C

Kindergarten teacher Brenda Cerveny, who retired last school year, spent her entire educational career teaching at Wilber-Clatonia. She nurtured her passion for teaching, developing and caring for students for 36 years at the school, during which she worked in kindergarten and special education. Take a look at the July 7 edition of the Wilber Republican to hear more about her tenure at W-C.

Summer reading kick off party - June 29

The Crete Public Library will celebrate their summer reading program with a kick off party on Saturday, June 29 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will be both indoor and outdoor activities available. Three food trucks will be onsite from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Mary Ellen's, Harbor Coffee and Pig in a Blanket. For more information call the library at (402) 826-3809.

Dorchester Fourth of July parade

Dorchester will continue their tradition of an annual parade this year on Thursday, July 4. Line up is at 6 p.m. in front of Farmers Cooperative. The parade begins at 6:30 p.m. To register for the Dorchester Fourth of July parade, email pegbergmeyer@yahoo.com.

Teen Movie Marathon - TODAY

Teens can spend the day June 27 at the Crete Public Library watching movies from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. There will not be a food truck this evening.

Plymouth garden, art show - July 13

The Plymouth Improvement Association will hold it’s annual Garden and Art Show on Saturday, July 13 at the Plymouth Community Center from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.. The doors will open at 7:30 a.m. to receive entries. All entries must be at the center by 9:30 a.m. A youth category for 12 years and younger will be offered. Lunch will be provided from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Daylily Drive, located five miles west of Plymouth, will have their garden open for those who might enjoy hundreds of varieties of day lilies in bloom. Talent competition at Saline County Fair

The Crete Lions Club and Saline County Fair will be hosting an all talent competition on July 17 at Tuxedo Park in Crete. To register for the competition contact Janette Drohman at (402) 429-0642.

Crete juniors down Auburn

The Crete Legion Post 147 juniors beat Auburn 11-1 June 26, thanks to two RBIS each by Nick Wendt, Ethan Placzek and Jay Wissenburg. Wendt was 2-3 with a home run. Brooks Piening went 3-4 and scored twice.

Crete seniors fall in nine

Crete and Auburn needed nine innings June 26 to determine a winner in the seniors' baseball game. Auburn scored a run in the bottom of the ninth to get the 8-7 walk-off win. Carson Kotil led Post 147 with two hits and drove in two runs. Nick Wendt also had two RBIs.
