Longhorns win first of season for homecoming

The Dorchester football team picked up its first win of the season after dominating Harvard 58-12 on Sept. 27 on homecoming.

The Longhorns got out to a blazing fast start, scoring 16 points in the first quarter and 20 in the second while holding the Cardinals to just six points to hold a 36-6 lead at the half.

Dorchester didn’t let off the gas as they scored 14 more points in the third quarter and eight in the final quarter to dominate the game.

Chase Tachvovsky had 14 carries for 207 yards and three touchdowns and three receptions for 26 yards and a touchdown. His touchdown runs were 77, seven, and 26 yards.

Carter Cerny had eight  carries for 46 yards and two touchdowns along with a reception for four yards. Mason June led the Longhorns in receiving with 46 yards on three receptions and two touchdowns.

Cerny completed six of his nine passes for 72 yards and three touchdowns.

On defense, Tachovsky had seven total tackles and one interception, and Owen Vyhnalek had five total tackles and also one interception.

Dorchester (1-3) is scheduled to play at Silver Lake in Bladen on Friday, Oct. 4, starting at 7 p.m.
