Volleyball finishes week 5-1

The Dorchester volleyball team had a good week as the Longhorns went 5-1, defeating College View Academy 3-0 (25-18, 25-11, 25-21), Hampton 2-0 (25-20, 25-23), Giltner 2-0 (25-20, 25-21), lost to Sacred Heart 2-1 (25-17, 22-25, 25-19), and defeated Lewiston 2-0 (25-12, 25-17) and Pawnee City 2-0 (25-19, 25-15).

Against CVA on Sept. 10, Gabby Theis led the Longhorns with nine kills and six aces, Baylor Behrens had 11 digs and Savannah June had 28 assists.

Coach Claire Tachovsky said the Longhorns played well on Sept. 12 against Hampton and Giltner.

“Our week went really well,” she said. “We played two really well rounded games on Thursday at Hampton.”

Bailey Theis led the Longhorns with 10 kills, Behrens and Atley Zoubek each had 15 digs and June had 17 assists.

Tachovsky also said the Longhorns played really well on Sept. 14 at the tournament.

“We were really excited for our first varsity tournament at HTRS on Saturday and ended up with third place,” she said. “Very happy with that and had a lot of fun.”

Dorchester was set to host Nebraska Lutheran and Cedar Bluffs in a triangular on Sept. 17. DHS defeated Cedar Bluffs, 25-22, 27-25 and Nebraska Lutheran, 25-14, 25-20. Up next is Osceola Sept. 24.
