Even though school is weeks away, the award winning band program at Crete High School is ramping up for another successful season as they host their annual band camp July 29-31 at Crete High. Mornings will be spent working on marching fundamentals over at Papik Field at Doane University, and then music rehearsals will take place inside in the afternoon at the high school. "We really appreciate the great partnership we have with Doane University," remarked band director Eric Fahrlander. "It makes such a big difference being able to practice on the Doane field, and I can't say enough about how great they are to work with!" Following a strong season last year, the expectations are high for the band program. "Our numbers might be a little less this fall since we lost a large senior class," explained Fahrlander. "but we will still be around 140 students strong, and we have a talented freshman class coming in. I expect us to do well" Community members can catch the marching band in action at any of the 5 home football games or 2 parades they will be competing at this fall.
